"Painting is for me a continuous process of self discovery…sometimes a headlong dive into inner depths, sometimes an introspective stroll, but always a dynamic adventure. "

Jan Groenemann is a prolific Midwest artist whose mixed media mystical expressionism is a paradox of intensity and peacefulness, energy and stillness. Her work combines her love of and connection with nature and her enthusiasm and curiosity toward life and its experiences. At first glance, color and composition capture the attention. As the viewer is drawn closer there is more to surprise and delight the eye. The imagination is triggered as shapes and forms emerge: figures, creatures, the feeling of landscape; Groenemann’s work provides a link for the viewer between the visual world and the spirit of the subconscious. Her exploration of texture cannot be captured with mere photography, nor can her subtly of color. For its full impact you must experience it in person.

Groenemann can be found in Studio 17 at the Foundry Arts Centre in old town St. Charles, MO, where you can drop in and see her working. Or you can visit by appointment in her home studio in St. Peters. Call first since often she is exploring out doors seeking fuel for her nature-inspired art.
